From Indifference

I could never tell you,
How wonderful you were.
You would always turn away.
And feel that much uglier.
And so I wrote music,
Which I could never share,
Your indifference inspired,
Poetry I could wear.

Pretty metaphors that I saw
So clear beneath my hands
Were the words that I'd have spoken
If you'd only understand.

I needed you to torture,
The love inside of me.
To make something beautiful,
Which once felt ugly.
And so I write music,
Which is mine to share,
My heart was a canvas of
Poetry to wear.

Pretty metaphors I wrote,
So far beneath my hands
Were the dreams that I lived on
And the words on which I stand.

Where you are in all these stories,
Just a muse that set a path for me,
Did you, inspire lines and verse?
From indifference came worth.
